$20,000 of Added Value for Only $1,500

               There’s nothing better than doing something you love – and making money from it.

               Here’s how Robert Campbell added $20,000 of value to an otherwise mundane and unexciting stairwell.

Cost of Materials:

              $400.00 for beams and wood planking on the ceiling;

              $50.00 for relocating the light so it is centered on the airplane pic;

              $550.00 for redesigning the low wall.  A 2′ x 3′ opening was created to bring more natural light into the 18′ stairwell.

              $150.00 for paint;

             $450.00 for the 4′ x 6′ airplane pic – which I created with a graphic artist.

Labor costs:  $0.00  Yours truly did all the work.

            PS:  Robert Campbell learned a long time ago that creating beauty is an excellent investment in terms of both time and money spent – and that home buyers will pay up for it.

             The biggest investment profit ($600,000) I ever made in real estate was the result of buying a rather ordinary looking home in Solana Beach, CA – which I turned into a home that was beautiful and amazing.

           And I made that profit in 1992, which was when San Diego home prices were in the early stages of what turned out to be 15% six-year price correction.

           That’s the way you do it.

           To make more money in real estate, create things that make people go “Wow.”

           Beauty sells homes because people like beautiful things.
