This blog post is to pay tribute to my best friend ever – Barley.
I lost Barley on Sept 25, 2019 – exactly three years ago to the day.
That was the worst day of my life – and I miss him every day.
Barley taught me to always live life to its fullest.
Although his life was cut short at 5.5 years, Barley pursued every single day with energy, strength and curiosity. Barley lived his life pedal-to-the-metal – full GO! – and he left Planet Earth like a meteor streaking across an evening sky.
Barley taught me that a man should always stand up for himself. He was the sweetest dog in the world until some dog tried to mess with him. Then he was fearless – and if need be, he turned into a Navy Seal.
My dear Barley, today is a celebration of your magnificent life. You and I will meet-up again – and I am so looking forward to that day.
I promise I will take you anywhere you want to go – such as to the beaches and canyons so you can do your favorite thing, which is to chase after sea gulls, rabbits, squirrels and coyotes. The only difference will be that we’ll be together in Heaven.

One more thing.
After we lost Barley, it took me and my family a grand total of four days to get another beagle that looked exactly like him.
That’s how big the void was in our lives – but the second we saw “Buddy” and he saw us, we all knew that a beautiful new love affair was about to get started.
